Besides, International Women’s Day is all about celebrating women and these women certainly deserve celebrating, as do you for that matter!
Each of the incredible women featured in our campaign has received funding to help them progress through their sport and today, they’re here to inspire YOU to Find Your Reason.
There’s no doubt that each of these women has inspired something special and demonstrated you truly can achieve anything you put your mind to. So, ladies, take this as your reminder that you can and say hello to Gemma, Frankie and Hannah…
GEMMA LUNSDAINE, WHEELCHAIR RUGBY
“My reason for taking part in sport is to have fun, push myself and to show myself that I can do whatever I put my mind to.
“I wouldn’t be able to do what I do today without the sport and funding: all the travelling, equipment costs, it’s hugely beneficial and it helps me to perform at my best and progress within my sport.
“Sport and fitness is a huge community, whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or whether you compete at the Paralympics or Olympics, we’re all connected through that one thing.”
FRANKIE FRIZE, VOLLEYBALL
“My reason for playing volleyball is that I like to do something and get good at it. Once I started, I realised it was something I could really dedicate my time to.
“All my friends are now there, so it’s sort of like one big family.”
HANNAH MOORE, PARATRIATHLON
“My reason for starting sport was to challenge myself and push myself to be able to do things I never thought I’d be able to do.
“Doing three sports costs a lot of money, so the funding that I received as I was starting out really helped me. It helped me get the equipment I needed, it helped me be able to travel to races and to be able to find the opportunities to progress in the sport.”
Inspiring? We think so!
You can help young, talented athletes just like Gemma, Frankie and Hannah just by ordering one of our FREE Limited Edition T-Shirts via our website tonight at 7PM GMT.
It’s clear just how valuable SportsAid funding is and without it, athletes could be forced to make the hard decision to give up what they love.
So, this International Women’s Day (and thereafter), be part of the movement to promote equality in sport and help us, help others achieve their full potential. All you need to do is donate £1, £2, £5, £10 or £15 and in return you’ll get a FREE one-of-a-kind AYBL treat. What’s not to love?
